About our Instructors
Sean and Caitlin
Meet Sean, one of the Dinghy instructors at Maroochydore Sailing Club.
I began sailing in 2013 and assistant instructing with MSC in 2019. Since then, I’ve become an Australian Sailing instructor delivering a variety of courses including Tackers, Teens and Adult Learn-to-Sail on the Maroochydore River and Surrounding Discover Sailing Centres. I have sailed Sabots, Open Bic’s and Lasers competitively along with trying various other classes of boats. Outside of Sailing Instructing I’m studying a Bachelor of Nursing/Paramedicine along with working at various music festivals and sport events within the medical teams as a Medic. My favourite pastime is photography, and you may see one or two of my images of the club on the website and Facebook.
Meet Caitlin, one of the coaches at Maroochydore Sailing Club
As a passionate and experienced sailing coach, I bring over a decade of sailing knowledge to the water. I started sailing at just six years old at NYRC and moved to MSC at 13, where I began competing seriously the following year. Since then, I’ve competed in two national championships and more regattas than I can count, with one of my most recent achievements being 3rd ILCA 4 Girl at the 2025 QLD ILCA State Championships. I’ve spent the past three years instructing Tackers, and I’ve recently started a Green Fleet program at MSC and completed my coaching course to continue developing young sailors in a more advanced capacity. Outside of sailing, I’m studying a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama and Music) at QUT. I also play violin and have been involved in orchestral administration through the Australian Youth Orchestra’s Orchestral Management course and an internship with Orchestra Victoria, reflecting my passion for leadership and creativity both on and off the water.
Sean and Caitlin are assisted by a number of our competent Youth Sailors who have undertaken Australian Sailing Assistant Instructor Training Courses.
