Discover Sailing comprises two Learn-to-Sail programs - focused either on Adults or Teens
For Adults — Start Sailing - a two level Course designed to introduce Dinghy Sailing, and then further improve your skills.
For Teenagers - Out There Sailing - A fun -illed Learn-to-Sail Course to introduce the Dinghy Sailing whilst having a great time with your friends.
FOR ADULTS - START SAILING 1
Start Sailing 1 introduces participants to Dinghy Sailing under the watchful eye of Australian Sailing qualified Instructors. Our two-person Pacer Dinghies are used to teach the basic sailing skills usually over three-day courses. Balance and Helming skills are introduced early, followed by sail setting. Much of the sailing is carried out sailing on reaches between two buoys while these skills are developed. As participants develop more understanding and hone their basic skills, further skills are introduced to enhance their boat handling and start to sail windward and downwind legs. Safety is important, so capsize drills and recovery are conducted in a supported and safe environment. Sailing Theory is also covered to explain how and why boats sail! All to give you a good basic start to your sailing!
Instructors are always close at hand in the Club RIBs to provide support and assistance where necessary!
A further course, Start Sailing 2, extends the basics, and introduces new skills about boat handling in a follow-up course!
Participants should be water-confident, be able to swim, and have a reasonable level of fitness and agility - there is a lot of movement in dinghy sailing!
if you are interested in a Start Sailing 1 Course , please leave your contact details on our Expression of Interest list — we’ll contact you when courses are arranged!

Out There Sailing is a bit more fun-filled, a bit wetter, and provides the opportunity for you to learn in a group of other teenagers. You should be able to fit in with a group of like-minded Teens wanting to Learn to Sail and have fun on the water!!
