MAROOCHY HEAD of the RIVER REPORT
/Unfortunately, Sunday turned out an an ugly Sailing Day.
Persistent Rain and a Strong tide turned up, but the Wind stayed away!!!
A small group of sailors launched into the challenging conditions, with a strong contingent of Optimist sailors determined make the best of the conditions and get very WET !!! Unfortunately progress was slow, but they did manage to pass the first mark of the Course. In recognition of their enthusiasm and persistence, Race Officer John shortened the Course massively and set up a Finish Line. Results were as follows
Div 3:
1st Noah Cook - Riptide
2nd Huon Jones - Yu-Gi-Oh
3rd Ryan Keegan - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Green Fleet:
1st Robert Keegan - WaveRider
2nd Taylor Cook - Rad Racer
3rd Alby Jones - Albytross
The Senior Fleet of Sabres etc, managed to sail a little further in the conditions, but eventually succumbed to the tidal run and drifted backwards!!!! They were ready to call it a day!!
Race Officer John abandoned the race and the on-water Committee Boat and RIB’s collected all the boats and towed them back to our Clubhouse.
At a short Presentation Ceremony, the Youngsters were presented a Head of the River Medal to mark their achievement!
Late News/Correction - the Weta trimaran sailed by Neil Noble did manage to sail the Course - Congratulations Neil, and Apologies!!
Thanks everyone who participated and helped out on a miserable day!!!!
