SAILING UPDATE
/Our regular Sunday afternoon sailing season finished in early May. Our sailors will take a short rest from racing on on the River over the winter months, and resume again around the end of August for our 2025-26 Sailing Year.
BUT - although Racing has finished on the River, there’s a heap of sailing continuing!!!
A group of recreational sailors with their own boats will continue their Thursday morning sail, and add a Sunday morning sail as well. You are welcome to join in — have your boat rigged and be ready to be on the water by around 10am.
Our Green Fleeters will start a round of Training on Sunday mornings from mid-May, and continue on most Sundays till 22 June - practising and honing the skills recently learnt in Tackers 3 courses!
On the same days, but in the afternoons, another group of young sailors will have their long-awaited Tackers 2 course, learning to handle the Tackers dinghies solo for the first time!
We have also managed to arrange some Adult Learn-to-Sail with a group taking part in a Start Sailing 1 Course in our Pacer Dinghies over two weekends at the end of May. We are hoping to offer more of these courses for Adults and Teenagers in the coming months. Check our Discover Sailing webpage for more information and Expression of Interest.
Hopefully we will also be able a Tackers Course over the Winter School vacation!
There will also be some Training and Racing continuing at Mooloolaba —-
The Maroochy Youth Coaching Program in Mooloolaba Bay that started on 11 May will continue on Sunday mornings through to the end of June with 10 youngsters receiving advanced coaching focused on open-water sailing.
Maroochy Sailing Club and the Mooloolaba Yacht Club will host the Mooloolaba Winter Series which consists of 5 race days off Mooloolaba Beach from June through to August 2025. Open to all dinghies, windsurfers and off-the-beach catamarans and trimarans.
