Thanks to the sailors in the 34 boats that competed in the 2019 Maroochy Head of the River. Light to moderate East to North-East breezes provided the driving power as the boats sailed first to the Northern end of Goat Island and after rounding the windward mark, headed upstream to the buoy located just past the mouth of Petrie Creek.
Race times were generally 2 - 3 hours with the Junior sailors sailing 1 lap while the Senior sailors sailed 2 laps of the course. A sunny day, with a high tide in the Maroochy provided fantastic viewing of the shallows as the fleet navigated the Channels toward the eastern end of the course. While the Racing Fleet explored the Maroochy, Youth from our Tackers 2 and 3 Training squads had their own special on-water activities.
Congratulations to Overall Champions Marcel Klastmanyi (Junior) and Phil Gray (Senior) but everyone who participated was a winner!
Special Thanks to all the Club Members and parents who helped with the organisation of the Event and provided logistical support on the water!
Full Results are now posted on our Result webpage.
Gard has provided a few photographs, and Nandor snapped boats as they rounded the top mark which he was monitoring!
