SAILING REPORT - Sunday 3 February

A busy morning with Tackers 2 and Green Fleet groups on the water.

Afternoon racing for five heats of the Summer Short Course Series brought a largish fleet onto the water, including seven boats in Division Three - the Junior Fleet.

In Division 1, the Lasers, competition was tight among the fleet with Dave Krempin taking out 4 of the 5 races, with Youth sailor Billy Richards taking out the other in his Laser 4.7. Minor placings spread through the fleet - an indication of the tight racing and close competition.

In Division 2, mostly Sabres, John Ladewig and James Grieve shared the Flags, with Spike Verdon following them home. Much of the interest was towards the middle and rear of the fleet where Neil and Emily Noble continued their Pacer adventures, while Simon Kaplan and Bruce Markey had their first outings in Sabres.

In the Junior Fleet, Riley House moved into a Laser 4.7 rig, and although he easily led each race across the line, his Corrected Time after adjusting for rating differential was not enough to stop Tex Granger having a great afternoon on the water taking out 4 of the 5 races. His competitors, Joy, Baden, Jake , Cody and Alex (also sailing a Laser 4.7)) were close behind and all shared minor placing during an afternoon of close racing.

Thanks to The Race Officers Norm Richards and Gard Saunders, and also Mike Groves in the Support RIB.. Graeme captured a few nice photos of the fleet launching for the afternoon race.
