AGM, PRESENTATIONS and LUNCH

The Annual General Meeting of the Maroochy Sailing Club was held on the morning of Sunday 17 June and drew a strong attendance of members. Our Club Patron and Life Member, Paul Dinniss, travelled from the Gold Coast to join us for the day, to re-new old friendships and make new ones.  Reports were received from the Commodore, Craig Stanger, and the Treasurer, David Thomson outlining the achievements of the Club over the past year and strategic plans for the future. Opportunity was available for discussion and there was valuable input from those present. Craig and David particularly mentioned the sterling work of our Hall Hire Manager, Sam Hattrick, and the value our Club Hall receipts add to our club financial position.

Election of Officebearers for the 2018-19 Sailing Year resulted in the re-appointment of all existing Committee members, with Gard Saunders adding the role of Club Secretary to her portfolio. It was also decided to add the position of Youth Co-ordinator to the Executive Committee with Graeme Hattrick temporarily fulfilling this role until a more permanent appointment is made.

Following our Annual General Meeting, members assembled in the warm sunshine on our Rigging Lawn for the 2017 - 18 Year Trophy and Award Presentation. Unfortunately not all recipients were present so some trophies were repacked for presentation when sailing resumes in August. The Charlie Smith Youth Encouragement Award was won by Joy Jessett, and the Wimberley Cadet Skipper's Award by Kristain Pugh. The Sid Elliot Award for Youth Sailing in Open Company was shared by Matt Hattrick and Billy Richards. The prestigious Old Buffer's Award for Service to the Club was presented to Mike Groves, while the Commodore's Cup for Service was awarded to Tackers and Youth Training  Co-ordinator, Graeme Hattrick.

With our Recorder, John Ladewig, away at the moment, Series Results are not available, but will be posted on the 2017-18 Result page as soon as they come to hand.

After the Presentations, the BBQ was fired up and members enjoyed a relaxing lunch and drink on the patio, re-living the exploits of the season past and making plans for the coming season.
