Busy morning at the Club with Tackers 2 Training and Opti sailors practising their skills. Lots of happy young faces as they came ashore at midday, after a great morning on the water.
Sixteen boats participated in the afternoon racing - a Long Course event on a Figure of Eight Course set by Gard Saunders assisted by John Ladewig. An incoming tide, and a light East-South-East breeze suggested a pleasant but long afternoon on the water. Howeve,r the breeze freshened a bit to around 10 knots and provided extra pressure in the sails, allowing sailors to make good progress into the wind for their up-wind leg, proving a very enjoyable afternoon's sailing. As always, close racing - particularly among the Lasers in Division 1 where Dave Krempin and Phil Gray(Impulse) shared the honours, but were kept very honest by Casey Sutherland sailing her Laser 4.7 rig.
Five Sabres raced in Division 2 with John Ladewig leading the fleet from Illan Schofield who has been missing in action a bit this year!
Two Optimists Dinghies skippered by Riley House and Kristian Pugh had a close tussle on the water, with Riley getting the flag in both races. Thanks to Stuart House who keeps a close eye on these young sailors from the Race Support Boat.
