Despite the current westerly winds, the breeze on the river was a gusty Easterly, swinging from ENE to ESE. The gusts did cause a few sailors some difficulty with a few capsizes noticed during the afternoon - all part of dinghy sailing!
Race Officer Brent Simons, assisted by our Vice-Commodore Gard, set a triangular course that involved two laps followed by windward and return with a downwind Finish. Only Boats from our Division 1 and 2 Fleets competed during the afternoon with no Junior boats starting in the scheduled 5 heats of the Spring Short Course Series.
Among the Lasers, David Krempin again led the fleet around the course, with good performances from Charles Piggot and Youth sailor Billy Richards with his Laser 4.7 rig.
Similarly in Division 2, Sabre sailor John Ladewig led the fleet home in most races ahead of James Grieve. Further back in the fleet, both Meryl Todd and David Ollerenshaw each had good races after some close racing on the water.
The finish of the two fleets in Race 2, was quite interesting as apart from the two Leaders David and John, the rest of the two fleets finished with only seconds between boats - a busy period for our Race Officers. Thanks, Brent and Gard, for a good afternoon of Racing.
Next week - Sunday 1 December
Morning - Adventurers, Tackers 3 and Green Fleet training.
Afternoon - 2 Heats of the Spring Long Course Series. No Race Officer is yet listed - Can you assist?
Update - David Krempin has offered to wave the Flags! Thanks David!
