A blustery Sunday with a fairly strong South-East change arriving to test out all sailors, with the threat of showers to dampen spirits.
A busy morning with the Optimist Green Fleet and the Adventure Sailors. The gusts caught a few crews out, and the RIB Support Boats were kept busy assisting where necessary.
Afternoon Racing promised more testing conditions with a fresh breeze and sudden gusts. Race Officers Tanya Kelly and Graeme Hattrick set a Long Course comprising two Triangles and two Windward returns. They were assisted by Stuart and Bob in both RIB Support boats which were kept busy all afternoon.
Good to see Phil Gray making a return in his Impulse Dinghy after a few weeks away. Phil led the Division 1 boats home followed by Craig Stanger and Brent Simons. Youth sailor, Matt Hattrick sailed well with his Laser 4.7 rig in these conditions. John Henry suffered a slight head wound from his boom, and retired as a precaution.
John Ladewig led the Sabre Fleet in both races - the only competitor to finish both races. A few had capsizes while Peter did not start Race 2 due to a small tear in his sail.
Congratulations to Youth Sailors Riley House and Baden Johnson who sailed well in their Optimists to complete both races, while Alex had a waterlogged Sabot.
Tanya managed a few pictures of the fleets getting away from the start-line and has shared them.
Next Week - Sunday 25 November
Morning - Tackers 2 and Green Fleet
Afternoon - 5 Heats of the Spring Short Course Series.
Late News - Brent Simons will be the RO for the afternoon. Thanks Brent!
